Tonight my neighbour from down the street, called me to her house.
"You won't believe what's going on in my yard tonight!"
Actually, she told me about the neighbourhood kittens using her yard as a playground a few days ago. She was trying to count them, but they wouldn't stay still long enough. We figured about nine! They were different sizes, so they must be from at least two litters. It was fun watching the kittens run, play, and wrestle with each other with absolute abandon! We 'oohed' and 'aahed' and tripped over each other at her sun room window while I took pictures. We knew as soon as we opened the door they would scatter.
The kittens jumped around, and ran in all different directions. It seemed when I was ready to take a picture, all at once they would scatter. One picture didn't even have one kitten! By the time the shutter clicked, they ran off! This picture was one of the better ones, one getting ready to hop down the deck, two wrestling on the top stair, and one getting ready to join the fun! I missed the squirrel who was watching the fun and running back and forth across the back fence.
Alas! There was one unhappy being around! My neighbour's cat, Chrystal, she was pouting in the living room, head drooping and hunched over, absolutely dejected while we paid attention only to the 'invaders'. Chrystal's reaction to the kittens reminded me of Scary's reaction to my granddaughter, Izzie's visits! Oh, the invaders who come and 'take over' the personal, private domain of domestic cats!
Today's bright spot will last for a few days, I think I might go back another time with Paul, he was at the "Y" tonight, and so missed the fun. I'm sure he will enjoy the show when we next visit the "Kittie's Playground"!
See you tomorrow,
Phoebe

The li'l kitties haven't congregated in my back yard since you photographed them, Phoebe, which leads me to think they may have been camera shy and run away after that or are hanging out in some other yard. And here I thought my back yard was the funnest place on the block, lol.
